Bob Ewells murder Attempt

By: Braxton Underwood

Maycomb County, Alabama October 31st 1939. Last night Jean Louise and Jeremy Finch children of the state known lawyer Atticus Finch were attacked by Bob Ewell. A couple of weeks ago Bob Ewell spit Atticus in the face according to him. He was not very surprised it was Bob Ewell because of after what happened in court.

“Everybody knows by now that Bob Ewells word doesn’t have any meaning after the Tom Robinson case when his daughter was asked if he raped her and she didn’t answer Atticus, this is the reason I think that he attacked the two children.” Stated Sheriff Tate. The two children were walking back from the Halloween pageant when the incident happened. “we were listening to footsteps, when we stopped they stopped, before we knew it he had thrown my brother Jem on the floor and tried to choke me. Somebody threw him on the floor and stabbed him.” These were the words from one of the victims, Miss Jean Louise Finch. It turned out to be that the man who helped them was Arthur (Boo) Radley.

Tom Robinson, Guilty and Dead

By: Braxton Underwood

Maycomb County, Alabama October 17th 1939. About a week ago Tom Robinson was accused by Mayella Ewell for rape. This case was taken to court on October 11th, and Tom Robinsons lawyer was Atticus Finch. Acording to Mayella Ewell Tom Robison attacked her, hit her, and raped her in her front porch. Her story wasn’t the same as her father’s story and this was seen by Atticus questions.
After a long trial Tom Robinson was found guilty and was sent to jail. We received the news of Tom Robinsons death about 2 hours ago when the police officers alerted that a convict had been shot down and the body was lying dead on the field. “He started to run away from us during their free hour, we yelled at him to stop running or else we would have to shoot. We shot a couple of bullets in the air and instantly we had to shoot him.” These were the word from the police officer in charge that day. Tom Robinsons body was found with 17 bullet holes.

Tom Robinsons Trial Was Not Fair

By: Braxton Underwood

Maycomb County, Alabama October 1939. Tom Robinson has been accused of rape against Mayella Ewell and has been taken to trial. In court when Miss Mayella was restating the “attack” she looked very nervous and you just knew that she didn’t know what to say. She made up things along the way and it was obvious. During one part of the trial Mayella started crying because Atticus asked her if her father had ever done something like that. I guess she was to nervous to answer and started to cry.

Her story was completely made up and it consisted of poor facts like: he hit me in the right eye with his left hand which really is damaged because of all the cotton working. Right there we know she was laying. Mr. Robinson’s testimony consisted of many believable things but wasn’t taken into consideration by the jury just because he is black. I think this case was really poor and it shows hot racist people can be.

Letter to the Editor

By: Braxton Underwood

Dear Mr. Underwood,
This letter is regarding your editorial that talks about the Tom Robinson case. I think that you are totally incorrect because Mr. Robinson shouldn’t have even been taken to trial. He was guilty from the beginning and Mayella was saying the truth. I think that her signs of nerves and her crying were due to that she was afraid of talking because Tom Robinson was there and she was afraid of him

Sincerely, Miss Stephanie Duboses
