Bob Ewells murder Attempt

By: Braxton Underwood

Maycomb County, Alabama October 31st 1939. Last night Jean Louise and Jeremy Finch children of the state known lawyer Atticus Finch were attacked by Bob Ewell. A couple of weeks ago Bob Ewell spit Atticus in the face according to him. He was not very surprised it was Bob Ewell because of after what happened in court.

“Everybody knows by now that Bob Ewells word doesn’t have any meaning after the Tom Robinson case when his daughter was asked if he raped her and she didn’t answer Atticus, this is the reason I think that he attacked the two children.” Stated Sheriff Tate. The two children were walking back from the Halloween pageant when the incident happened. “we were listening to footsteps, when we stopped they stopped, before we knew it he had thrown my brother Jem on the floor and tried to choke me. Somebody threw him on the floor and stabbed him.” These were the words from one of the victims, Miss Jean Louise Finch. It turned out to be that the man who helped them was Arthur (Boo) Radley.

Tom Robinson, Guilty and Dead

By: Braxton Underwood

Maycomb County, Alabama October 17th 1939. About a week ago Tom Robinson was accused by Mayella Ewell for rape. This case was taken to court on October 11th, and Tom Robinsons lawyer was Atticus Finch. Acording to Mayella Ewell Tom Robison attacked her, hit her, and raped her in her front porch. Her story wasn’t the same as her father’s story and this was seen by Atticus questions.
After a long trial Tom Robinson was found guilty and was sent to jail. We received the news of Tom Robinsons death about 2 hours ago when the police officers alerted that a convict had been shot down and the body was lying dead on the field. “He started to run away from us during their free hour, we yelled at him to stop running or else we would have to shoot. We shot a couple of bullets in the air and instantly we had to shoot him.” These were the word from the police officer in charge that day. Tom Robinsons body was found with 17 bullet holes.

Tom Robinsons Trial Was Not Fair

By: Braxton Underwood

Maycomb County, Alabama October 1939. Tom Robinson has been accused of rape against Mayella Ewell and has been taken to trial. In court when Miss Mayella was restating the “attack” she looked very nervous and you just knew that she didn’t know what to say. She made up things along the way and it was obvious. During one part of the trial Mayella started crying because Atticus asked her if her father had ever done something like that. I guess she was to nervous to answer and started to cry.

Her story was completely made up and it consisted of poor facts like: he hit me in the right eye with his left hand which really is damaged because of all the cotton working. Right there we know she was laying. Mr. Robinson’s testimony consisted of many believable things but wasn’t taken into consideration by the jury just because he is black. I think this case was really poor and it shows hot racist people can be.

Letter to the Editor

By: Braxton Underwood

Dear Mr. Underwood,
This letter is regarding your editorial that talks about the Tom Robinson case. I think that you are totally incorrect because Mr. Robinson shouldn’t have even been taken to trial. He was guilty from the beginning and Mayella was saying the truth. I think that her signs of nerves and her crying were due to that she was afraid of talking because Tom Robinson was there and she was afraid of him

Sincerely, Miss Stephanie Duboses

Great book....Poor movie

My first point of this comparative analysis is about Golding's book, he is trying to show that the kids had to depend on themselves without any authority. in the movie there was an adult on the island because he was rescued by Ralph after the crash. this changed the plot because there was one extra person on the island. he was hurt and about to die, but even though he didn't help the kids in their elections and stop them from killing Simon and Piggy the story was changed. In the movie the captain represented authority.

my second point of this analysis is about the boys nationality. in the book the boys are English. golding made them English because in that time young boys were being evacuated from London because of the bombings. also because the English are very proper and it would be a contradiction if they turned savages. in the movie the boys were Americans. this changed the movie because of their knowledge, language and personality was more savage like. their actions were more savage. they wanted more freedom.

my last reason is that in Golding's book none of the kids knew each other. golding did this to show that every kid had to be dependent and had to get to know each other and work to achieve something. in the movie all the kids came from the same american military school. this changed the plot because in the begining when they were "electing" a leader they knew that ralph was the colonel so he would be the leader. this shows how there was integrity.

after reading the book and watching the movie I can say the book was much better.
If a movie will be made after a movie I think it should be almost the same, same plot same characters and same idea. Even though the main idea was the same there were many changes that have really ruined peoples idea of a great book.

You Cant Have it All

but you can have a cold drink of water...when the sun is to hot and the wind wont blow
and the true friends that will help you
You can have a reason to smile...
You can have the opportunity to suffer and the choice to forget
you can have the hot summers in your backyard where the fun wont stop, like the heat of the sun
you can have those trips to the beach where the water dances and the sand sleeps
you can have the teachers that push you... so you become a better person
you can have the moments with your family that you will remember forever because of one small detail
you can have the sky, ground and sea
you can have the cold winters where snow is the way
you can have that song, the one that reminded you of many things
you can have those days where you dont want to wake up because you know it wont be a good day
you can have that chocolate ice cream that brings a smile to your face
you can have that garden...full of roses, so bright...
you cant have it all, but you have to be great full with what you have

Mountain Laurel

Lake Tahoe,
cold nights
and during the days the
wind blows
both ways

the crystal clear water
from
the lake,
surrounded by melting snow on the
top of the mountains

the mansions, with the
perfect
view of the dancing trees
and the
sleeping lake

The wind blows both ways...

the sun is out,
but the cold wind
blows

the town,full of wooden houses,
with chimneys,
for when it snows..
and the wooden balcony
for when the sun, is out and the wind
blows

the old fashion restaurant, in
the dead corner
of the street humdrum in the
outside,
tumultuous in the inside

the wind blows both ways

everybody, smiling
jumping, laughing
its the 4th...
he 4th of July!
the stars shine and the stripes
dance

all of this in the land of the free,
and the home of the
brave

Hero

Title: Hero

Publisher: Philomel Books

Genre: Fiction, Young Adult, Fantasy

Where I got it: USA

First Sentence: There were four thugs, total gangsters, in front of the house with their rifles and night–vision goggles.

First chapter review: In the first chapter Zach (the main character) is sprinting home because his mother has some news to tell him. Zach’s father is a Special Forces agent and Zach was expecting to see him that day. Sadly he received the news that his father had died. His plane had crashed. He starts to realize what is happening.

Verdict: I liked this book because it was the first one of this genre that I have ever read, it was very interesting.

Cover Comments: Nothing Mike Lupica has written will thrill you like this – William Goldman

Every kid secretly wants to be a superhero. Well, be careful what you wish for––you might just get it. Hero is the amazing story of Zach Harriman, and nothing Mike Lupica has written will thrill you like this – William Goldman

Found Poem

The tide was coming in
Ralph found himself walking on a
narrow strip
of firm beach

Understanding his thoughts in the
two side of the triangle
maze...

where every part is an improvisation
the tide was coming in
an assembly for cleverness
not
for laughing, or fun
the tide,
was coming in

the beast, falling off
the log
but after all the tide was coming in...

the beast, like the darkness on the island

the beast... the worn out
grass
the grey roses
all around the conch

While the tide was coming in

Where I'm From

I am from soccer cleats from Nike and Adidas
I am from the backyard full of red, purple, and yellow
run and run but stay away from the garden
I am from the rough field and the dry grass where we sprint trying to score
I am from Monday dinners and a dozen cousins
from Angelica and Eduardo, Vaccaro and Alcedo
I am from patience and hard work
I am from the catholic church and visits many Sundays
I am from Panama and Italy
I am from the ones who immigrated on boats ans started their life here in panama, I am from the ones who started selling oranges on the streets and ended up becoming a multi‒ millionaire businessman
I am from the Historical streets of Italy. from the rich in culture avenues of,spain and the wonderful land of Panama

My Beliefs

I believe you should give
Your all
And never give less

I believe that soccer can bring people
From all over the world together
Or separate them

I believe that your only regret should be
Regretting life actions

I believe that a song
Can change your day

I believe that money shouldn’t
Be a reason to fight
Because in the end you will lose it all

I believe you should be given
A chance to prove yourself

I believe that life is like football
Take it one play at a time

I believe that a good ice cream
Will make you remember special moments

I believe that once a legacy has begun
You should make sure it carries on

These beliefs are mine since the beginning
Until the end

Mafia Conspiracy

Mafia is made out of mobsters that make illegal businesses and deals. If a deal or transaction doesn't go their way, they will conspire so it will.A couple of years ago, the Mafia was trying to kill the president of the United States for business issues. The Mafia leaders knew that State of the Union speech would soon take place, so they started working on a plan to kill him.

They knew that it would be anarchy if they killed the president, but they would do whatever it took to eliminate him. The day of the speech came and the Mafia's plan to shoot the president was looking pretty good. The president had finished talking about corruption and then a gun shot was heard. It hit the vice president and missed the president by inches. The policemen sprinted towards the location where they heard the shots and apprehended the shooter. It turned out to be that the shooter was the designated survivor.

Roberto Duran

Roberto Duran is probably one of the best Panamanian boxers alive. He was born and raised in a neighborhood known as "El Chorrillo". He was globally recognized for one particular charactristic: the strenght of his punches, that is how he got the nickname "Mano de Piedra" or Hands of Stone.
When Roberto Duran was in his prime, he won most of his fights. Many of these fights were won by knockout. As he continued fighting and winning, he became much more recognized. Back in Panama he was lionized by most kids. Every boy in Panama wanted to become a professional boxer like him.
During these years Duran had everything he wanted. He had: cars, a nice house, money and sponsors. He had a girlfriend back in Panama and when they both turned 18, they got married. Life was going the way it was supposed to be for him until his wife's parents started to ask him for money. This is the beginning of his downfall.
Duran would give money to his in-laws and they would go to the casino for many hours. They spent every single penny he gave them. Soon Roberto Duran became a casino addict himself and began to lose grasp of his life and actions.
He wasn't meticulous with his money spending and soon he lost everything. This is a real shame because before this, he had won a couple of times the title for World Champion. He even beat some of the greatest boxers in history such as Sugar Ray Leonard.
The Duran vs. Leonard fight was a fight to remember. Leonard was the title holder and he lost, he wanted a rematch to try to regain his title. The rematch took place in New Orleans. For this fight, Duran had gained a lot of weight due to his partying habits and had lost agility. Towards the end of round 8, Duran had a dissension with his trainer and said "no mas, no mas".
Now you can assimilate Duran in a huge crowd because he has gained a lot of weight and changed his life style.

How about a drink?

I was checking in when I turned around and saw Holden.
I went over to him and greeted him. At the beginig he didn't remember who I was, and I have to admit he took quite a while on recognizing me. I was consize and asked him about D.B. As you all know, he became a famous writer and producer back in Hollywood. He had a despondent, sad expression on his face. Not to mention he smelled like scotch and cigarrets. I'm not trying to make a conjecture, but he looked a little dizzy.

"Swell" he responded. I noticed he was tremulous while he talked. Well,D.B. Is fine I think. "We haven't talked in a long time" he added. I know he is an irascible kid so I stoped asking him. I also noticed that wehen I asked him about D.B. He was lackadisical. As I talked with Holden a man bumped into him. You could easily see that holden was not very about what just had happend. He rebuked the man and yelled at him to watch where he was going. Holden was trying to simulate soberiety but he failed. After a while Holden said he was tired and he left.

Poor kid, I thought. He has a rough life ahead of him if he keeps up like this. As I walked to my room a door was slammed, it was Holden. He came out holding his stomach (like if he got hurt). When I asked him what had happend. He just asked me if I would mind geting a drink with him. He told me he couldn't sleep and he entreated me for a drink. I said yes and we went back to the lobby.

The finals

We have to win. OK you guys know who starts so go out there to win. Moises,Mauricio,Eduardo I need you guys to block as good as you can. I heard the whistle I think that this is the farthest we have come I thought in my head. After the first half the score was 0-0. When the second half started we were doing fine until one error cost us the game. In the end the score was 1-0 we had lost.

On Tuesday I was laughing in class of Thores story. and I got in trouble. I was sent to Mrs. Tuchis office with Brian. We got detention on Thursday. Later that day we went to the park to reces before the presidents inauguration.

Sadly Brian and I couldn't go have fun. After the park we all sat down in the wolf room ready to see a new president being given the power of the nation. I saw that a person was given the responsibility of a nation that is in war and has many problems. I thought that I could have some responsibility in my life as well.

He gave a speech that he would be with his nation in their good and bad times. I also saw a man swear that he would do all the good possible for his nation.

99

Eduardo A. Vaccaro
1/19/09
One morning my parents told me that my great grandmother had died. That day we went to church and spent the day with my grandparents . My grand parents told me that my uncle pablo who is my grandmothers brother was coming and my aunt tere who is my dads sister. Many people went to the funeral. After the funeral we had a lunch in my house. Even though we were sad we got together to celebrate my great grandmother who died at age 99.
